Exploring the initiatives of Kashi Tamil Sangamam 4.0.

Teaching Tamil in Varanasi - "तमिऴ् करकलम"

Under this campaign, around 50 Hindi-knowing Tamil Teachers will be trained and sent to Varanasi to teach Tamil to school students. Each teacher will teach Spoken Tamil and alphabets to 30 students for an hour in designated schools, covering around 20 classes.

  • The teaching contingent will arrive on 2nd December 2025.
  • Varanasi Administration will allot Government/Private schools for the program.
  • In total, 1500 students (30 students x 50 teachers) will participate in learning Tamil.
  • The Tamil Department of BHU, Varanasi will coordinate with the teachers and administration.
  • CICT Chennai will depute a coordinator, with support from CIIL, Mysuru.
  • IRCTC will arrange travel, accommodation, and local sightseeing for the 50 teachers.

Learn Tamil in Tamil Nadu - Study Tour

This programme brings 300 college students from Varanasi to Tamil Nadu in 10 batches of 30.

  • Students will arrive in Chennai in the 3rd week of December 2025 for an orientation and to witness the KTS 4.0 Valedictory function at Rameswaram.
  • Students will be distributed to 10 designated colleges across Tamil Nadu (e.g., IIT Chennai, NIT Tiruchi, Sastra University, etc.).
  • Tamil learning classes will run during their stay in Tamil Nadu.
  • Course materials, prepared by CICT, Chennai, will include content on Tamil Nadu's traditions, festivals, and the oneness of Bharatiya tradition.
  • Train tickets will be booked by BHU, Varanasi in coordination with IRCTC.
  • Host colleges will arrange accommodation and study tours to places with historical Kashi-Tamil Nadu links.

Cultural Immersion

Cultural troupes from the Ministry of Culture and state governments will perform at a specially furnished auditorium at Namo Ghat, which is ideal for attracting at least 5000 locals per day. Cultural programs will also be arranged in Prayagraj and Ayodhya.

Cuisine, Arts, and Crafts

Visits to handloom and handicraft centers in Varanasi, as well as local food outlets and markets, will be part of the programme. There will also be handicraft and handloom outlets from Tamil Nadu and UP at the main event venue.

Tamil Circuit

Participants will be taken to the ancestral house of Mahakavi Subramanya Bharatiyar, Kedar Ghat, and Kashi Madam in the "Little Tamil Nadu" area. They will also visit the BHU Tamil department for academic and literary interactions.

Spiritual Circuit

The spiritual circuit will include visits to the sacred spiritual places in Kashi, Prayagraj, and Ayodhya.
